On July 16, 2026, Attorney Guo Ruoying, Founding Partner of Starry Law Firm Thailand, was invited as a guest speaker for the Greater Bay Area "Entrepreneurship Escort" Training Camp and the Angel Club "Golden Seed" Co-Creation Program (Phase 3). Under the theme "Understanding ASEAN — A Country-by-Country Breakdown of Opportunities and Challenges for Product Expansion into ASEAN," she systematically outlined the landscape of opportunities and key compliance points for enterprises expanding into Southeast Asia.

The training camp was guided by the Guangdong
Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security and jointly hosted
by the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security and
Shenzhen Angel Investment Guidance Fund Management Co., Ltd. The selected
project teams focused on cutting-edge fields including artificial intelligence
and intelligent manufacturing.
During her presentation, Attorney Guo noted
that the most common mistake enterprises make when entering the ASEAN market is
treating "Southeast Asia" as a single unified market. In reality,
while the ten ASEAN member states share a regional cooperation framework, they
differ significantly in population size, industrial base, purchasing power, and
policy environment. For enterprises, what truly matters is not a simplistic
judgment of "whether there are opportunities in ASEAN," but precisely
identifying the national market that best fits their products and business
model. Drawing on the industrial characteristics of key countries and her years
of frontline experience serving Chinese enterprises investing in Southeast
Asia, she broke down the expansion pathways for five countries: Thailand,
Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Attorney Guo particularly emphasized that
market opportunity determines whether an enterprise can "enter" the
market, while compliance capability determines whether it can "go the
distance." Different ASEAN countries have distinct thresholds in foreign
investment access, product certification, intellectual property protection, and
business licensing. Using Thailand as an example, she provided a comprehensive
interpretation of the core compliance matters enterprises must address when entering
the Thai market — from foreign investment restrictions under the Foreign
Business Act (FBA), to product certification systems, to trademark and patent
protection — offering attendees actionable practical guidance.
On August 7, 2026, the "Entrepreneurship Escort" Training Camp and "Golden Seed" Co-Creation Program (Phase 3) closing ceremony concluded at the Shenzhen Angel Club · Qianmo Application Accelerator. In recognition of its deep participation and professional contribution to the training camp, Starry Law Firm was awarded the "Collaborative Innovation Partner Award."
